Vintage Yves Saint Laurent Muse Bag Y2K Cream Leather It Bag

An icon of 2000s fashion: the Yves Saint Laurent Muse bag in beautiful cream leather with antiqued gold-tone hardware.

Designed during Stefano Pilati’s tenure at Yves Saint Laurent, the Muse debuted in the mid-2000s and quickly became one of the era’s defining designer “It bags.” Its oversized proportions, sculptural silhouette and relatively discreet branding made it a sophisticated counterpoint to the heavily logo-driven bags of the period.

This cream version beautifully showcases the architecture of the original design. The signature topstitched panels form a subtle Y across the body, while the double handles attach through oversized metal rings. At the center sits the distinctive Muse lock, accompanied by its leather clochette.

Unlike many bags designed around an obvious logo, the Muse is recognizable through its construction—the exaggerated shape, substantial leather body, signature hardware and graphic seaming do the talking.
